Insomniacs Love Name-the-Team

We launched the "Name the Team" contest at 12:01 Monday morning, and the entries keep rolling in.  So far, we have nearly 500 entries, and over 200 unique names.

But here's the weird part... since we've launched the contest, we have received entries in 51 of the 61 hours the contest has been up.  Yesterday morning, we had one entry at 4:27 a.m.  Just this morning, we had an entry at 1:40...

And yet, nobody has submitted "Red Eyes" or "Sheep Counters" yet.  Odd.

I can't enter the name contest because I don't live in Nevada or California. Weird rule, but whavever.

I can, however, have an opinion. Mine is that the team should be named the Reno Spikes. My idea merges baseball shoes with the railroad passing nearby and that has been so key to Reno history. The Spikes!

The name would allow for a great mascot, a bulldog train engineer named, what else, Spike!

Yes, there's a class A short season team in Pennsylvania called the State College Spikes. So what?

Go Spikes!

I can't submit a team name, but I have a couple of cool ideas.

-Reno Force (A far cry, but it's based off the show Reno 911, where it's about the police force in Reno. It would still be a cool name on its own.)
-Reno Rollers (A reference to the casinos in Reno. It might not be a good idea since the Las Vegas team is going to change their name soon, and it might have to do with gambling.)
-Reno Reindeer (Reno is Spanish for reindeer. Not a good name, just something to throw out there.)
-Reno Miners (Reno was built based on the mining industry)
-Reno Locomotives/Engines (Based on the Central Pacific Railroad.)
-Nevada Sierras (Since Reno is located in the Sierra Nevada, this nmae would be pretty clever.)
-Reno Tahoes (Lake Tahoe)

These are just some ideas I'm putting out there. Probably you could come up with bette ideas than me. (Or at least better than some of the names that the Bowling Green team are voting on. Seriously, the Cave Shrimp?!?!?!?!?!?)
